The Grassley letter explicitly stated to be interested in Steele’s role in the dossier and its relationship with the FBI. “The Senate Committee on the judiciary, investigates a series of questions in connection with Mr. Steeles dossier, including: the FBI’s relationship with Mr. Steele, in relation to the dossier, the FBI’s reliance on Mr. Steeles dossier in applications for surveillance under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act; the FBI’s sworn statements to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) about Mr. Steele’s clients, sources, methods, and credibility; the FBI’s sworn statements to the FISC about Mr. Steele’s description to the FBI of his dealings with the media; Mr. s Steele’ post-election dossier work and the interaction with the Ministry of justice; and other related topics, some of which remain classified.”
