Grand Canyon close the North Rim road paths by wildfire

GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Arizona. – Grand Canyon National Park is the conclusion of a scenic road to the North Rim vista, and two paths by a lightning-caused wildfire has grown to 3.5 square miles (9 square kilometres).

Park officials said Cape Royal Road, Cape Final Trail, Cliff Spring Trail would be closed on Saturday evening for public and firefighter safety.

The closure has no impact on most North Rim facilities, including accommodation and other services in the near Bright Angel Point.

The fire began on July 21. Fire managers follow a strategy of close and with the fire while trying to protect specific natural and cultural resources.”

Park officials say the smoke from the fire is visible in both the rims and that visitors can see the smoke or mist in the canyon.
