Rep. Trey Gowdy: Müller probe should not be shut down
The Republican Congressman from South Carolina, says that if the President is innocent Russia’s collusion, he and his lawyer should act like it is, calls for Russia to run its course.
Republicans-Rep. Trey Gowdy on Sunday split with President Trump and lawyer John Dowd’s apparent efforts to try to have the end of the special Council Russia-investigation, says Dowd, the President has a “disservice” and the investigators must the “time of the independence and the resources” to the probe.
“I think the President is a lawyer, to be honest, him a disservice when he says that, and if he said the scope of the investigation, the manner,” Gowdy “Fox News Sunday.” “If you are trading an innocent client, Mr. Dowd, as he is.”
Dowd, Trump’s personal attorney, on Saturday called on Special Counsel Robert Müller to the end of the investigation, whether Russia is experimenting the 2016 presidential elections, and if the Trump campaign, in cooperation with Moscow in these efforts.
Dowd expressed the hope that the Deputy Prosecutor General would decide attorney Rod Rosenstein, to the end of the investigation, according to the attorney General Jeff Sessions on Friday night, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe fired based on the findings from the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility.
Trump tweeted Sunday minutes before Gowdy said: “Why do the Müller team with 13 hardened Democrats need Hillary, some big Crooked supporters, and not Republicans? Another of The recently added…does anyone think this is fair? And yet, there is NO COLLUSION!”
Gowdy, Chairman of the House Oversight committee and a former Federal Prosecutor, expressed the hope that Trump and Dowd were trying to strong-arm an end to the investigation and argue that the probe is about to try to find, or to prove agreement.

“Give Bob Mueller, the time, the independence and the resources to do its job,” Gowdy, of South Carolina, said Sunday. “And if you are innocent, act like it. … If you’ve done nothing wrong, you should want the investigation so exaggerated and thoroughly as possible.”
