The Chilean government is in the first half of 2017 with a bill to the same-sex marriage to legalize it. That promised the Chilean president Michelle Bachelet during a panel discussion at the United Nations.

“My government is determined to make a law about huwelijksgelijkheid in the first half of the coming year to submit to the Congress”, said Bachelet. Gay couples can currently have a registered partnership in the country.

Bachelet was also good news for other minorities. She is considering additional measures to ensure the legal status of the LGBT community.
