Republican lawmakers on the House Oversight Committee proposed to the Board, the democratic Chairman Elijah Cummings on Tuesday to keep his push, two prominent trump Cabinet officials in contempt of Congress, accusing him of a double standard while calling the move “unnecessary” and designed to “advance partisan political goals.”

The panel agreed to last week, mostly along party lines, to hold both state attorney General Bill Barr and the Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross in contempt—Rep. Justin Amash, R-Mich., a fierce Trump critics voted with the Democrats. The contempt citation was for defying a Committee subpoena for documents issued in relation to the re-introduction of a citizenship question on the census, in 2020.

Last week, the Ministry of justice, the President said Trump has executive privilege claims over the documents the panel had asked for.

TO KEEP HOUSE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE, BARR, ROSS VOTES IN CONTEMPT, AS A TRUMP EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE CLAIMS OVER THE CENSUS MATERIALS

But the Republicans released a report on Tuesday, the argument that Cummings, D-Md., had shifted his position on contempt, citing his criticism of the GOP members in the year 2012, held the former attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for the otherwise, for the production of documents in connection with the Committee of the operation Fast and Furious investigation.

To keep “Chairman Cummings position, the Executive officials in contempt of Congress, has been held since the last time the Committee Attorney General in contempt of Congress,” the report said.

The GOP report cites Cummings in 2012, during the debate on the holder contempt citation, saying, “There is something going on here that really should bother all of us, and that is that, you know, we have an attorney General that, just like we did it, swear to uphold the Constitution of the United States” and “we have to respect the separation of powers is here.”

“And so, you know, this whole idea of, all of, Oh, what is he hiding? Well, I don’t think that he is nothing of hell,” Cummings was quoted as saying, in the year of 2012.

The Republicans accused the report, Cummings, hold a contempt vote ahead of time that the Committee is the “fact-finding” “active and ongoing.”

“The contempt citation was premature, unnecessary, and to promote a partisan objective is to influence ongoing legal proceedings, the specified currently before the Supreme court of the United States,” the minority report. To get “because the Committee could with the information he seeks in the future the identification measures, the Committee exhausted all possibilities for obtaining the information has been attached, so that contempt is, at this time.”

The Ministry of justice last week to beat Cummings for the holding of the contempt vote.

“Unfortunately, instead of allowing the Department to complete document production, you have chosen to go forward with an unnecessary and premature contempt vote,” Assistant Attorney General Stephen E. Boyd wrote.

Cummings defended the move Committee.

“Let me be very clear: this is a sad day in my 23 years in Congress,” Cummings said at the time. “I never have a dream, that we are dealing with the issue of contempt with respect to subpoenas, and the Minister of economic Affairs and the attorney-General. … We have tried to work with Secretary Ross and attorney General, Barr. We found again and again delay, delay, delay.”

Republicans on the Committee to expose in their latest report, the new testimony from senior Commerce and Ministry of justice officials, in an attempt to, what the census state incorporated as a “conspiracy theory” that the White house and the GOP-were the workers leading the charge, to the citizenship question.

Groups a challenge of the Trump administration on the question of the census according to reports, the communication between the end of the GOP took place strategist Thomas Hofeller and Christa Jones, now chief of staff of the U.S. Census Bureau, the Director. Hofeller, allegedly, a study in the year 2015, the found that the re-introduction of a citizenship question on the census would help the Republicans, and white, according to The hill.

But in its report, the GOP legislature joint testimony of three trump-administration officials, including senior Ministry of justice officials and a senior Commerce Department counsel, said she had no knowledge of Hofeller and not communicate with him.

Meanwhile, Cummings on Tuesday, the search in the afternoon, in a letter to Jones, according to a transcribed interview with her in connection with the newly discovered documents.

Republicans also pointed to Democrats’ efforts to “Band-former attorney General Jeff Sessions, the former adviser to the White house, Steven Bannon, and other high-ranking Trump-Administration officials, the effort to add a citizenship question to the census.”

“The record before the Committee reading, however there is no support for these charges”, the report.

In spite of the testimony of senior administration officials, Cummings said last week that the panel had the “findings” show that Ross was “aggressive with his staff pressed to add the citizenship question months before any requests from the Ministry of justice in the spring of 2017.”

Democrats say they want certain documents to determine why Ross added the citizenship question to the census in 2020. They say, that the trump of the administration has rejected the documents, despite repeated requests.

The Republicans, though, argued that the contempt citation is an “unnecessary act of political theater,” saying the Supreme court would he.his decision was made in connection with the census in the coming weeks, in turn, the settlement of “disputes” to the question

IMMIGRANT-RIGHTS GROUPS ASK SUPREME COURT TO DELAY DECISION ON 2020 CENSUS

The Supreme court is scheduled to decide whether the 2020 census, a question on citizenship, according to the Commerce Department, said that last may, that would be the question added in response to a request by the Ministry of justice in December 2017, when Jeff Sessions served as attorney general.

The census count is prescribed in the Constitution, and their results are used to determine government spending, as well as the number of congressional seats allotted to each state for the next decade, and the number of electoral votes available from each state.

The Republicans are largely to the additional census support-question as a logical step. Democrats say that the inclusion of such a question of power is an expense to the intimidation of migrant communities, and siphon money and elections away from you.

But in the last year, the Commerce Department noted that almost every ten-year census between 1820 and 1950, ” asked you a question about the citizenship in any form.” The Department also said that citizenship would be a question of “is the same as the one he requested, on the annual American Community Service (ACS)”, which will be sent to a much smaller percentage of the American home than the actual census.

“The citizenship data provided by the [Department of Justice] will be more accurate with the question, than without it,” said Ross last may. “What is of greater significance than the adverse effect that the respond may be the result of people, against their legal duty to.”

A vote by the full house would be necessary to keep the Barr and Ross in contempt on the people counting Problem.
