Google staff members wanted to manipulate search results to the fight of Trump’s travel ban, e-mails show

New evidence of political bias at Google?

Internal Google e-mails reveal employees discussing the manipulation of the search results after Trump’s travel ban; an insight from Peter Schweizer, producer of ‘The Creepy Line.’

Google is in the spotlight after an internal emails show conversations between people of the mark of a desire to manipulate the search results on the heels of President Trump’s controversial travel ban to mute conservative views and push ways to fight against the ban.

Like many Silicon Valley titans, Google has drawn the ire of the conservatives who find right-leaning views to be convicted of within. But the internal e-mails made public by Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Thursday, seem to indicate employees wanted pastor of Google’s algorithm to boost the left-leaning political views about immigration.

The emails were written on Jan. 29, 2017 — two days after Trump signed, the first trip to that resulted in the protests across the country. The emails indicate that Google employees in ways to “exploit” the search engine to combat what the tech giant’s staff members is considered as a anti-immigration rhetoric, and news. The e-chain, which was first obtained by “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” and quickly matched by the Wall Street Journal, Google shows staff admitting to colleagues that there is a need for action rally against the travel ban.

“About the general idea: make use of the search function in order to emphasize the importance of organizations to donate to, the latest news, etc. to ensure that people are aware of how they can help if the resources that are available for immigrations [sic] or people who travel,” an e-mail sent by a marketing employee said.

“I know that this would need to be met in a sprint to make it happen, but I think that this is the kind of super timely and necessary information that we need if we know that this country and Google, would not exist without immigration, a product manager responded.

According to “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” reactions of other Google employees included comments such as, “we are absolutely in,” and “excellent initiative.” Other e-mails reveal an employee called the situation “very political issue”, while a separate e-mail a detailed “big brainstorm” that was apparently the position of the company as a whole.

“These e-mails were just a brainstorm of ideas, none of which were ever carried out.”

– Google spokesperson

The e-mails show Google staff members talk about methods for the change of the company’s algorithm to direct users to the pro-immigration organizations, policy-makers and agencies that fit the members’ political beliefs. Google does not deny the validity of the e-mails and provided the same response to both, “Tucker Carlson Tonight” and the Wall Street Journal.

“These e-mails were just a brainstorm of ideas, none of which were ever carried out. Google has never manipulated the search results or change any of its products to the promotion of a certain political ideology — not in the current campaign of the season, not during the 2016 election, and not in the aftermath of the President Trump’s executive order on immigration. Our processes and policies would not be allowed for any manipulation of search results to promote political ideologies, ” a Google spokesperson said.

A Google insider echoed the spokesman for the company, and said that the ideas stated in the e-mails were not even come near to them in action.

“It is scary that the manipulation of the search for a liberal agenda were even discussed.”

Media Research Center Vice President Dan Gainor

Media Research Center Vice President Dan Gainor told Fox News that the scandal would be greater if there are indications that the Google staff members had “actually taken action on this left-wing lunacy”, but “it is scary that the manipulation of the search for a liberal agenda were even discussed.”

Google refused to answer a series of questions asked by Fox News, including whether or not the employees involved in the e-mail chain were disciplined.

“It is our policy not to comment on individual employees,” a spokesman said.

Trump’s first travel ban temporarily stopped immigration from seven majority Muslim countries. According to the e-mail chain, Google staff presented active control of “islamophobic, algorithmically biased results of the search terms ‘Islam’,’ Muslim’, ‘Iran, etc.” and to counter the ‘biased, algorithmically biased search results” with regard to the words “Mexico”, “Hispanic” and “Latino.”

A message featured a staffer with the question of whether they can make it easier for users to donate to the ACLU.

As the Journal pointed out, Google co-founder Sergey Brin is a Soviet Union immigrant who ever appeared at a rally to protest Trump’s travel ban. His company now controls the majority of the searches on the internet and the word ‘google’ has emerged as a verb, in addition to the name of a company.

“Google is the most powerful company in the history of the world. Virtually all of the information about the person flows through the software, and for that reason, that Google determines how much of the world understands the reality. In the heart of the business of Google is the search engine, which has a virtual monopoly on search in this country,” Carlson said on Thursday. “But what if Google was lying to you?”

Trump, whose travel ban was later confirmed by the Supreme court, has long been regarded as Google as biased against the conservatives, and recently accused the company of rigging search results in the past.

“Google search results for “Trump News’ shows only the viewing/reporting of False News Media. In other words, they have TESTIFIED for me and others, so that almost all the stories & news is BAD. Fake CNN is prominent. Republican/Conservative & Honest Media is excluded. Illegal? 96% of the results ‘Trump News’ of the National Left-wing Media, very dangerous. Google and others are suppressing the voices of the Cda and the hiding of information and news, that’s good,” Trump tweeted last month. “They are controlling what we can and cannot see. This is a very serious situation to be addressed!”

The last bomb that gives a liberal bias among the tech industry comes as Attorney-General Jeff Sessions is scheduled to meet with the attorneys next week about the alleged conservative censorship.
