Glenn Close ‘terrified’ to get back on stage to stand
Glenn Close feels tension to her role in the Broadway musical Sunset Boulevard resume. The actress, who is the leading role of movie actress Norma Desmond played in New York from February to four months to see in the musical.
“I’m terrified,” says the 69-year-old Close in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
In 1994 played the actress in the role, but then on the West End in London. “That provides no assurance that the now well again. Then I had a whole ocean between me and New York, and that felt safe. Now I’m closer to home.”
Close says that the costumes that they wore during the shows in London, again, will be used. “They are still in excellent condition. The wigs also, the haarstukken that I wear are 22 years old.”
Sunset Boulevard, for which Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote the music, was also seen in the Netherlands. Then, Simone Kleinsma and Pia Douwes alternating the role of Norma Desmond.
Lloyd Webber based the musical on film from 1950. “I think Glenn is the best Norma ever in the role to see”, said the composer in an earlier interview with the New York Times. Close won for the role in 1995, the Tony Award for best actress.
