Rudy Giuliani takes it with Michael Cohen’s credibility
President Trump’s personal attorney weighs in on ” Fox News Sunday.’
Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani discharged former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen on “Fox News Sunday,” says Cohen, is a “scoundrel” and a “total liar.”
The comments came as the porn star Stormy Daniels’ lawyer also called for the broad side to Giuliani, calling him “buttercup” and say to him, “buckle up,” as the ongoing drama with Cohen and his secretly-recorded cassettes unfolds.
“I must say that I pity him, but no one will believe me,” Giuliani said, referring to Cohen. “He destroyed himself as a witness. I’ve prosecuted 5,000 cases. I would never be a case to track this guy is a witness.”
Giuliani added that he thinks Cohen is “able, I think, unfortunately, the healing tapes” — an echo of his claim from last week that two experts a retired FBI agent, have analyzed the secretly recorded Trump-Cohen-Band and believe that it is “played” with.
The statements marked the continuation of a sharp turnabout Trump, the team at Cohen. In may, Giuliani had, told ABC’s “This Week” that Cohen is an “honest, honorable lawyer.” Giuliani said the change of heart by he told host Chris Wallace on Sunday, he knew that Cohen was a “pathological liar” until he secretly recorded conversations released this then-client, President Trump.
Giuliani called that “a disbarrable offense,” and rejected arguments that Trump had renounced the team of attorney-client privilege by the Band in the public eye.
“The ruling allows us to respond, without the renunciation of all the privileges,” Giuliani said. “After all, it is not my privilege – it was the President of the privileges is to defend – if we have him; that’s exactly what we did.”
In response to the interview, Cohen’s lawyer, Lanny Davis sent a statement to Fox News, the best Giuliani to claim the riding.
“Mr. Giuliani seems to be confused,” Davis said, and repeated a previous statement. He is expressly excluded to the attorney client privilege in the past week, and repeated and inaccurate — as evidenced by the Band’s voice and the voice on the recording, losing all confidentiality claims.”
EXPERT WEIGHS IN: WHAT KIND OF TROUBLE IS BAR COHEN IN FOR THE STATUS?
Separately, Giuliani is a Problem with the idea that the Supreme Court nominee judge Brett Kavanaugh, who wrote that the investigations can be overly President in office that would help Trump legally confirmed to be distracted.
“I don’t think it is clear that the Constitution that the President is subpoenaed, or if he is subpoenaed, he has a right to challenge it on the site, if you do not have exhausted all the other possibilities,” he said. “I would not expect to Kavanaugh’s vote. This is a question of first impression. And the trump-the situation is quite different than the Nixon situation. So I don’t think we get an edge, one way or the other.
“It is a case of the [Mike] Espy case, the closest one you can find, he was a Cabinet officer, and they said, he can only be summoned, basically, of his duties, if there is no other way to get the information,” said Giuliani. “So the President would at least have this privilege. Whether he will make a full permissions, and can not therefore be examined — I would really have to do more research.”
Rudy – are you looking for desperate bc they are. What are you & Mr. Trump so do not be afraid, if he did nothing wrong, as you claim? Sharing of information, which in no way damages to Cohen’s credibility and usefulness as a witness. But it will be difficult for trump corrupt. Giuliani was also, it would be something wrong on a “moral basis” if the President was Trump’s misleading the public by claiming that he did not know in advance of a controversial June 2016 session at the Trump Tower with a Russian lawyer.
Trump Jr, his brother-in-law, Jared Kushner, and then-campaign Chairman, Paul Manafort, were known to have been a meeting with the Kremlin-linked lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya. E-Mail records released showed Trump Jr, the meeting was billed to show as an opportunity for dirt on Hillary Clinton as a “part of Russia, and his government’s support for Mr. Trump.”
Meanwhile, porn star Stormy Daniels’ lawyer, Michael Avenatti, took aim at Giuliani on Twitter Sunday, calling him “desperate.”
“.@RudyGiuliani — Are you denying that there are still other hush payments for the yet unnamed women in the context of the 2016 campaign?”, he wrote. “To ask for a few friends… you better buckle up buttercup, because Mr. Trump stupidity, and infidelity is about to catch up to him (and you).”
Avenatti also controversial is the idea that Cohen was damaged credibility.
“Rudy-you are desperate, bc they are. What are you & Mr. Trump so do not be afraid, if he did nothing wrong, as you claim? Sharing of information, which in no way damages to Cohen’s credibility and usefulness as a witness,” he wrote. “But it will be difficult for trump corrupt. And we are just getting started. #Fight club.”
