Trump starts a tweet storm against the NY Times story

President Trump slams Russia probe, starts a tweet storm against a New York Times story on White House Counsel’s Müller interviews; Ellison Barber has more.

President Trump’s personal attorney, Rudolph Giuliani, announced on Sunday that “the truth is the truth” when trying to explain his dislike of Trump sitting for an interview with the Special Counsel, Robert Müller the team.

“I’m not going to be rushed, in the him to testify, so that he gets caught in perjury,” Giuliani said on NBC News’s “Meet The Press.” “And if you tell me, you know that he is to testify, because he is going to tell you the truth and he should not worry, that is so silly, because it’s somebody’s version of the truth. It is not the truth.”

“The truth is the truth,” moderator Chuck Todd, to answered which Giuliani interrupted him: “no, it is not the truth. The truth is the truth is not.”

An obviously unnerved Todd joked, “This is always a bad meme,” before Giuliani, “don’t do that,” truth is the truth is to me.”

“[If] you two proofs,” Giuliani shot back, “[and] Trump says that I, you and the other guy say says that he did say what the truth is? Maybe you know, because you’re a genius.”

“At this point, you’re right answered,” Todd. “… No, you’re right. I can’t read your mind on this front.”

Trump has repeatedly said that sitting in it will be open to investigators with Müller. However, lawyers for Giuliani and Jay Sekulow have warned.

Both sides exchanged proposals for interview conditions, but no agreement was reached. The President of the lawyers have also said they would fight any attempt by Muller to issue to Trump a subpoena.

Giuliani also accused the special counsel’s office of illegally leaking, The New York Times, White House Counsel Don McGahn cooperates intensively with the Mueller probe. The Times published the story Saturday, drawing an angry reaction from the President on Twitter.

“The only other one that I could done, it was McGahn,” said Giuliani. “I mean, I did not leak it do not leak to The times, and Jay Sekulow, The time, the President sure as hell, so who could it be? It could be, McGahn, and McGahn is not to do it. He would have done it a long time ago if he was going to do it.

“They are down to desperation, said at the time,” Giuliani, the Müller team. “You have to write a report and you don’ T have a single bit of evidence.”

Earlier on Sunday, Trump not tweeted that McGahn was, as he put it, “a John Dean-type ‘RAT'” – a reference to the White House counsel for Richard Nixon during the Watergate scandal. Dean cooperated with the Prosecutor and congressional investigator, providing key testimony that led to Nixon’s resignation resulted in the face of certain impeachment and removal from office in 1974.

I left the White House Counsel Don McGahn, and all other members of staff of the White house, cooperate fully with the Special Counsel. In addition, we have willingly gave over a million pages of documents. Most transparent in history. No Collusion, No Obstacle. Witch hunt!

The precipitated @nytimes wrote a Fake piece today to say that as White House Councel Don McGahn gave hours of testimony to the special Councel, he needs a John Dean type “RAT.” But I let him and all the others to witness – I had not. I have nothing to hide……

The Failure of the New York Times wrote a story that make it seem like the White House Councel had on the President, when in fact it is exactly the opposite – and the two Fake reporters who knew it. This is why the Fake-News Media has become the enemy of the people. So bad for America!

Giuliani told NBC that Trump does not increase executive privilege or attorney-client privilege in these interviews, because his team believed — and now he says, wrongly, that to would be the quickest way to the study to the end.

“The President encouraged a witness to him, is happy that he has done, is quite sure that it said nothing to the statement, the damage the President,” Giuliani.

McGahn’s attorney William Burck added in a statement: “President Trump, by the Council, declined to assert the privilege over Mr. McGahn’s statement, Mr. McGahn, said the Special Counsel team questions fulsomely, and to be honest, as each person is interviewed by Federal investigators.”
