Gisele Bündchen is just like any other mother, and has her ups and downs.
The 38-year-old model and mother of two children, was candid about the personal struggles they endure after giving birth. In her new memoir, “Lessons: My journey to a Meaningful Life,” Bundchen admits that they lost themselves and had to learn how to fit into her life as a mother.
“When I became a mom, I kind of lost myself. It was as if a part of me died,” she says in an excerpt shared by People.
“I had this very independent person. It was all about me. But now I had this tiny being, and I suddenly felt l couldn’t do other things and that was very difficult for me. All I ever wanted was a mother, but if you actually experienced that, it is a shock.”
Bündchen and her husband Tom Brady welcomed their son Benjamin, 8 in 2009 and daughter Vivian, 5 in 2012. The Brazilian model is also step-mother of Brady’s 11-year-old son, Jack, from a previous relationship with Bridget Moynahan.

After having children, Bündchen made some changes in her life and career.

“I had all these terrible, self-imposed guilt. I thought what a bad mother I was for leaving my child, even for a day,” she expresses adding that when she and her children to her jobs, “I felt guilty for that also. Like, ‘Here we are on an airplane and the baby is crying.'”
A working mother and having a husband have a full-time job also took a toll on her and the NFL player marriage.

“You’re overwhelmed and tired, and you’re not the best partner,” Bündchen. But the two eventually got into the rhythm of parenthood and work.
“When someone you love is happy, makes you happy, or if they’re sad it makes you sad,” she says. “You are suffering with them and rejoicing with them.”

Elsewhere in her memoirs (out Oct. 2), Bundchen also opens up about regret breast augmentation post breastfeeding and that she had suicidal thoughts that were brought on my her severe panic attacks.
