Good news for those who with this soft again like to have a drink in Ghent. The city council decided to terrasreglement to make 99 summer terraces a month longer, until the 15th of november, and can remain outstanding.
“The terrasreglement suggested that it is during the winter months, from 1 november to 1 march, is not admitted to summer terraces (the additional terraces in eilandopstelling in a square) outside,” explains the Ghent ships of the Middle class Christophe Peeters (Open Vld). The hospitality industry found that lock-up period took too long and was of the opinion that they are on sunny days it is an opportunity missed.
“Since the severe winter still short, and the city of Ghent the importance of commercially important periods for the hospitality industry, endorses, is the lock-up period for the placing and use of a summer terrace is now shortened,” said Peeters.
The (shortened) winter period remains preserved, in order to avoid the additional terraces, in many cases with tarps, covered, in the historic city centre disfiguring. (Belga)
