BERLIN – The German military says seven people were arrested after cutting through a fence around an AMERICAN air base that activists claim that the possession of nuclear weapons.
German news agency dpa reported on Monday that the activists were detained after entering the zone at the Buechel Air Base in the land of the west.
The German military said the intruders were later released, and now a criminal complaints for property damage, flooding and dangerous interference with air traffic.
It is the second time in less than 10 days that the anti-nuclear activists have broken into the base.
German and AMERICAN troops jointly stationed at Buechel Air Base. A legal complaint from a nearby resident about the storage of nuclear weapons on the base was rejected by Germany’s highest court earlier this year.
