German minister wants no vleesnamen for meat substitutes
The German minister of Agriculture Christian Schmidt will vleesaanduidingen for vegetarian and vegan products prohibit.
Terms such as ‘vegetarian schnitzel’ and ‘vegan curry sausage” according to Schmidt completely misleading, and make the consumer uncertain.
In Bild says Schmidt Wednesday that he will commit to “in the interest of the consumer the false labeling to ban.” The landbouwminister will find that the manufacturers own names to think of for their vegetable products. “No one should be in this pseudo-meat products pretend to be the real meat is.”
Schmidt is a recognized opponent of the sales of meat substitutes with names like sausage, the frikandel or schnitzel. In October he spoke up for clear labelling of vegetarian and vegan products under the motto: “there, there also must be care about this”.
