MACON, Ga. – A Georgia woman charged with shooting a boy in the head as he and his friends were in the vicinity of her home has pleaded guilty in the case.
The Telegraph reports lawyers announced Monday that the 48-year-old Elisabeth Faye Cannon would plead guilty, just as the selection of the jury in her case was to begin.
Cannon was accused of shooting and critically wounding then-15-year-old Vernon Marcus Jr in January 2017. Cannon told the researchers that they shot intending to scare people away and not mean to shoot them. Researchers say that they would previously have reported people throwing stones at her house and vowed to shoot them when they get back.
She is facing up to 20 years for aggravated assault on the conviction of next week.
Vernon Marcus Sr. says that his son is slowly recovering and “start to talk a little bit better.”
