Authorities in Georgia on Sunday said they arrested the parents of an 18-year-old, after the discovery that the couple would allegedly locked their daughter in her room for long periods of time and “beat the soles of her feet” as a form of punishment.
Neil and Janet Farrell were taken into custody and face the charges of exploitation and intimidation of disabled adults, false imprisonment and two counts of first degree cruelty to children after the couple of authorities on notice that their daughter was missing, a press release from the Pickens Sheriff’s Office said.
The authorities came to the house of the family Saturday after learning that the teenager had been missing since entering a wooded area hours earlier, the sheriff’s office said. The Farrell’s, who authorities said had “active adult guardianship” of the teenager, told that she had some behavioral problems.
