The late President George H. W. Bush was known for his affinity for handwritten letters. But it was not until after his death that his correspondence came with a young boy in the Philippines.

For several years, the 41st president Timothy, a Filipino child is sponsored, by the non-profit compassion International. He wrote to him often, signing his letters “George Walker,” Wess Stafford, compassion International president emeritus, told The Gazette.

Bush had to be careful was to be in his letters, as Timothy, the safety may be compromised, if someone nefarious found out that he said a letter exchange with a former US President, Stafford and the newspaper. He said, as he helped screen the letters between the couple.

But Bush would make a break, “safety rules,” Stafford. In a letter to Timothy, Bush ever take a picture of his dog, Sadie, say, “has met many famous people.”

“And I thought, ‘OK, that’s nice, but boy, this is starting to slip a few little secrets in”,” Stafford said.

Bush also once wrote, “We have Christmas this year with my son in his house. Oh, and he lives in a big white house,” said Stafford.

“And I’m like, ‘Come on, Mr President, you are really at the limits”,” Stafford recalls.

Former President George H. W. Bush said of Timothy in the year 2003, that the current President was traveling to the Philippines. “He loves the Philippines, I know, that’s for sure.” His son, George W. Bush was President.

Bush, who died in the country from 1989 to 1993, in the Nov. 30 at his home in Texas at the age of 94 years. About 20 years ago, Bush, a Christmas visited the concert where the people in the audience, the sponsorship of children through Compassion International encourages during a break.

To raise “to everyone’s surprise, all of a sudden [Bush] put his hand in the middle of his security entourage and says, ‘I want one!'” Stafford recalls. “And all these security people were like, ‘Has anyone screened this? Does anyone know if this is OK or not?'”

In his first letter to Timothy, in 2002, Bush introduced himself: “I am an old man, 77 years old, but I love children, and although we have not seen, I love you already. I live in Texas. I write to you from time to time. Good Luck, George Walker.”

“Really, he threw in,” Stafford said, adding that the former President “have to give excellent things very quiet, always, the credit to other people.”

In 2003, Timothy former President George H. W. Bush said that he was parying for his “physical strength.” He also told him that he likes to play basketball.

Finally, as Bush’s state of health deteriorated, Stafford assistant Angie Lathrop took over the sponsorship, Timothy. In 2010, Lathrop and her husband all the years of writing had learned to be able to travel to the Philippines, and Timothy.

“Timothy, he was so speechless, he was speechless,” said Stafford. “And he says, ‘Well, I knew he was kind and encouraging, a wonderful man, but I had no idea.’ And I thought, you know, a child in poverty, it is amazing enough that someone care about her, but it was beyond his wildest imagination and his ability to that of the President of the United States knew his name.”

Although he could not tell Timothy, he is a former President was, he gave him tips. In a letter, he said he had visited 11 States recently. “I go to those countries to keep talking and to help, different wrote charities,” Bush.

Bush family spokesman Jim McGrath said he had “no idea – ever – , 41 did this,” adding that he was “a bit surprised” about the news, however.

Bush was reminded of the many selfless acts, such as the nation, his death mourned at the beginning of this year.

Maine paramedic Josh Grzyb, recalled working for the Bush family at their Kennebunkport, Maine, the home for several summers as part of a small team supporting the medical aid and the daily life assistance. When he told the former President he wanted to go to medical school to help Bush promised, in any way he could – including writing him a letter of recommendation.

Grzyb found out that he was adopted, the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Science, the day before Bush died.

“It was really an honor and inspiration to work for such a humble man with such reverence and respect,” Grzyb told Fox News. “He was a compassionate man, always out of the way, to make a difference, people laugh, no matter how bad he felt.”
