Clooney slams Hollywood for not pushing back against hackers
Adam Housley reports on actor’s comments
There are good friends, there are good friends, and, apparently, there is George Clooney.
Rande Gerber, a businessman and an old friend of the actor told MSNBC’s “Headliners” that Clooney once gave 14 friends $1 million each and pay their taxes for a year.
“There is a group of guys that we call ‘The Boys.’ George had called me and ‘The Boys’ and said, ‘Hey, mark September 27, 2013 in your calendar. Everyone is going to come to my house for dinner,” Gerber recalled.
Gerber said he and “The Boys” arrived at Clooney’s house to find black designer luggage bags at each place setting on the table. When they opened the bags, they found “a million dollars in 20 dollar bills,” E! News reported.
GEORGE CLOONEY EXPLAINS WHY HE’S TAKING A BREAK FROM ACTING: “I DON’T NEED MONEY’
“George starts to say:” Listen, I want you to know how much you have meant to me and how much you means to me in my life,” the 55-year-old said. “I came to L. A., I slept on the couch. I am so happy in my life to all of you, and I could not be where I am today without all of you. So, it was really important to me that while we are still here, all together, that I give back. So I want you all to open your bags.'”
Gerber added, “Each of us – 14 of us got a million dollars. Each and every one of us. We are in shock.”
George Clooney and Rande Gerber, who is married to Cindy Crawford, have long been friends.
“He goes, ‘I know that we all go through tough times, some of you are still going through. You do not need to worry about your children, you don’t have to worry about, you know, the school, you don’t have to worry about paying your mortgage,'” he added.

Gerber said that some of their friends were going through a difficult time, including the one that was at work at a Texas airport bar trying to make ends meet for his family. Gerber recalled to attract Clooney aside and refuses to use the generous gift, but the 56-year-old actor replied: “I’m just going to an announcement. If Ange doesn’t take the million dollars, no one gets it.”
Gerber, who is married to Cindy Crawford and a co-owner of Casamigos Tequila Company with Clooney, took the money and gave it to a good purpose.
“This is who George is. That was September 27th, 2013. Now, September 27th 2014, he married Amal. Now that is good karma,” Gerber said.
Clooney has two 6-month-old twins with Amal Clooney. They also recently showed their generosity by handing out noise-canceling headphones on a flight to England, apologizing for their twins to crying, Page Six reported.
