California Gov., Gavin Newsom was not able to escape criticism after the announcement, he pulls the plug on the state’s massive high-speed rail project from Los Angeles to San Francisco, that was more than a decade behind schedule and billions in the red.
“Let’s be real,” Newsom said in his first state of the State address on Tuesday. “The current project, as planned, would take a lot of cost, and respectful for too long. There was too little oversight and insufficient transparency.”
The embattled $77-billion bullet train was an embarrassment to the Golden State, and plagued by problems almost from the beginning.

Newsom took his pitch on Twitter after the announcement, said he is still “high-speed rail a reality,” despite the bullet-train (misfire.
“This is so much more than a railway project. It is a transformation project. Anchored by high-speed rail, we can focus our economic -, workforce -, and Transport-strategies for the revitalization of communities in our country,” he tweeted.
To far “for those who want to walk: waiver of high-speed rail means that we have wasted billions of dollars with nothing but broken promises and to show suits for you. I’m not interested in sending $3.5 B in Federal funding–only–reserved for HSR back to the White house.”
However, the tweets will go over not well with all.

“Don’t think that seeing your ‘spin’ could be irritated at the destruction of an important project on CA me more, but I was wrong. You can’t slash and claim to save you,” one person tweeted.
“This decision is the way to the end of your political ambitions. Your lack of leadership really and deeply disappointing,” another wrote.
A tweet linked Newsom to Simpsons’ character Lyle not mad at you, in an episode of the legendary TV show, duped Springfield residents million construction of a monorail to spend in the city, only to have the money bag and escape.

But it wasn’t all bad reviews for Newsom, the other behind his comments.

“We are on track to be the only country in the civilized world without high-speed. Bravo Governor, let us not remain that (sic) in a world of 20 years ago,” wrote one person.
“I agree. The way of the country’s High-speed-rail is mind-boggling. We need to move forward in the 21st century.,” a further added.
