Garth Brooks can take on Simon Cowell’s “America’s Got Talent’ mentoring challenge

Garth Brooks says he may take up to Simon Cowell’s suggestion to help one of the ‘American’s Got Talent” hopeful to write music.

Garth Brooks says a collaboration with America ‘ s Got Talent hopeful Michael Ketterer could happen.

Following Ketterer’s incredible performance during the first evening of this season, the AGT semi-finals, judge Simon Cowell said that a country icon like Brooks would be the perfect person to write a song specially for Ketterer to sing during the finale.

“I actually got to talk with Michael, I talked to him on the phone, just to get ideas about this, if we write a song, what in the world would it cover?” Brooks explains. “He is a good guy… you can tell that this boy was raised right.”

Ketterer has become a favourite with the fans this season, both for his soulful, raw voice and are hugely inspiring personal story as the father of six children, five adopted sons, who he and his wife took in off the streets and from orphanages.

The participant was moved to tears when Cowell first called on Brooks to write something for the finale, and the 56-year-old country icon said he appreciated that Cowell thought of him for the challenge.

“Thank you. That is a pretty cool vote of confidence,” says sara. “And it’s pretty cool to get to do something with people like [Ketterer]. And it is a chance to make music, that’s what it’s all about for me.”

However, Brooks also said that nothing is set in stone, and try as they might, it is possible that they will not be able to make something for the Ketterer in time for the AGT finale next week.

“These things, you just can’t let that happen, you have to hunt the music. So I’m working on it,” he said. “As it happens, I hope that it is something he wants, [and] I hope it’s something [fans].”

“The truth is, you don’t know if you’re going to be able to do it. And what happens if you do it, and the kid’s like, ‘Ugh, this is not me,'” Brooks added, referring to the challenges of writing music under a deadline and for a different artist. “So I think the best thing to do is everyone take a breath [and] let this child do what’s best for him.”

ET’s Denny Directo caught up with Cowell on the Tuesday after the second week of the AGT semi-finals and the british TV personality said that Brooks “loves Michael,” and praised the country music legend for “a gentleman and a class act.”

“Just the fact that Michael knows he got the support, that is a big deal,” Simon added.
