Raw video: police officer swerves over the median to avoid oncoming train after the crossing gate failed to lower in Mokena, Illinois.
Dashcam footage from a Illinois police cruiser was unveiled last week an officer close call with a train after the gates are not closed and warning lights failed to go off.
Mokena police officer Peter Stanglewicz posted the video of the Nov. 9 incident on his Facebook account last week, so that people own their own eyes to see how close he was rolled in the train.
“My whole life, I have little happiness. I’ve bought tons of lots, of little league and tickets to charity lotteries,” he wrote on Facebook. “Every lottery ticket was a loser. I just thought, I was not born with happiness. Little did I know I was lucky, I was just to save all for the perfect moment. Here is all my luck is used IN a TIME. If I never win anything again, I’m fine.”

The terrifying images showed Stanglewicz drive along Schillings home improvement in Mokena, and the direction of the tracks without the warning lights and gates are activated, according to the Daily Southtown.
Stanglewicz reacts quickly and swerves to his left, narrowly missing the train.
Katie Dahlstrom, a Metra spokeswoman, told the Daily Southtown in the train, on the Rock Island District Line, in the direction of LaSalle Street Station in Chicago when a short circuit caused a problem.
“A signal maintainer arrived on the scene a few minutes earlier, a separate problem immediately launched an investigation into this incident and put extra protected to prevent the trains of the procedure through the intersection until the problem could be resolved,” she told the newspaper.
Mokena police said Wednesday that they are “grateful” there were no injuries in the incident.
