France still the most popular holiday destination among Dutch people

In the season of 2016 went to 9.9 million people at least one time on vacation. Most of them chose a holiday to France.

Just as in 2015, France is the most chosen foreign destination. A small 1.1 million vacations were in this country celebrated, a decrease of 60,000. This is apparent from examination of the CBS.

Germany follows with 956.000 holidays, what 122.000 more trips in 2015. 583.000 holidays were spent in Spain, 72.000 more than in the previous year.

Remarkable further is that the United States enters the tenth most popular foreign holiday destinations, 128.000 holidays were in this country spent. Portugal has the top ten leaving.

Long vacation

In the fifth week of the season were the most Dutch people on holiday in the netherlands or abroad: in total, 3.7 million.

A long holiday (of four nights or longer) was the best in the world spent. 5.3 million people chose for such a trip. 2.7 million spent the long holiday in their own country.

Short vacations, up to three nights, were mostly in the Netherlands is celebrated. That went for 1.4 million Dutch people, compared to 0.4 million which is a short holiday abroad together.

In 2016 there was a total of 4.6 billion euros on vacations spent. 4,4 billion of this went to the long holidays.
