Wildly popular ‘Fortnite’ video game breaks YouTube record
‘Fortnite’ is fast becoming a cultural phenomenon and has set a new YouTube record for live games to stream. The multiplayer shooter game, which allows players to navigate a vast landscape, has racked up a huge following.
“Fortnite” has become a cultural phenomenon, the involvement of celebrities such as Drake and the Boston Red Sox-pitcher David Price and make a star out of gamers such as Tyler “Ninja” Blevins. Now, the game will host its first “World Cup” with a prize package totaling $100 million.
Making the announcement on his blog, developer Epic Games said “the Fortnite World Cup” (not to be confused with soccer World Cup, starting later this week), will bring together the Fortnite community to compete or watch the e-sport competition at home.
“We support the community, organized events, online events, and organized competitions all over the world, where anyone can join and anyone can win,” Epic said in the post.

The developer added that Fortnite World Cup Qualifiers begin in the autumn of this year, with the first Fortnite World Cup begins at the end of 2019. “Whether you’re in the competition or watching at home, we want this to be fun for everyone,” Epic said.
The $100 million in prize money will be divided between the many events at the different levels of competition all over the world,” Epic said, while indicating that the World Cup event would focus on Solo and Duo play.
What separates Epic e-sports league from others is that it is not sales teams or franchises, and will ban third-party leagues from the sale of teams or franchises.
“Fortnite,” now with 125 million players around the world, has become a mega-hit for developer Epic, known for popular games such as “Gears of War” and “Infinity Blade” series, prior to the aforementioned success of “Fortnite.”
Because of his boundless popularity, there are online petitions to shut the game down because the relationships are ruined.

There is even a case of a 9-year-old girl is sent to rehab after she wet herself, while she refuses to stop the play of the game.
On Tuesday, Nintendo announced that “Fortnite” would be available on the popular Nintendo console Switch, making it the latest platform to support the game.
