Former security guard who sexually abused inmates gets 4 years

ATLANTA – A former Georgia prison guard has been sentenced to more than four years in federal prison for sexually assaulting three female inmates and threatened them to help him cover up of the attacks.

Court documents indicate that the 51-year-old Edgar Daniel Johnson was sentenced Monday to serve four years and three months followed by three years of supervised release. He will also have to register as a sex offender.

He Had pleaded guilty in October.

Prosecutors say Johnson admitted that between Nov. 1, 2012, and Sept. 30, 2013, he had non-consensual sex multiple times with three prisoners of Emanuel Women’s Facility in Swainsboro.

Johnson also admitted calling at the South side Fire department in Chatham County to report a fake bomb threat on the Island of Elba, in the vicinity of the Port of Savannah in May of 2017.
