Former PSV’there Alex (34) ends career due to knee injury
The former PSV-defender Alex is at the age of 34 his career is ended. The Brazilian need a knee surgery undergone, and will then no longer back as a footballer.
Because of persistent complaints to the cartilage in his knee, Alex should soon be operated on. The 17-fold international of Brazil is expected to be nine months to convalesce. Given his age, Alex has decided to take his career right to end.
“Together with my family, I’ve decided to stop”, says Alex against the Brazilian channel Globo. “I felt a lot of pain. The injury getting worse and I can no longer bear it.”
Three times champion
Alex played between 2004 and 2007 for PSV, in which he three times became champion in the Premier league and the semi-finals of the Champions League achieved.
Then came the physically strong defender for Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan. At the last club he left last summer.
A transition to FC Porto bounced off in August, because Alex due to his knee injury not by the medical examination came. Therefore, he returned to Brazil, where he and his old club Santos went to train.
