Flu epidemic after ten weeks still not over

The griepgolf in the Netherlands after ten weeks not over yet. According to the research institute Nivel went the previous week to 94 on the 100,000 people with griepklachten to the doctor. A week earlier, there were 101.

If two consecutive weeks more than 51 for every 100,000 people influenza is considered an epidemic.

General practitioners will see that since mid-december, in particular, many babies and young children with flu-like symptoms.

An average flu epidemic lasts in the Netherlands about nine weeks. Last year took the griepgolf twice as long as normal.

Nivel holds the flu in the Netherlands in the holes via a representative group of general practitioners in the whole country.
