Florida teen texts mom to grab drugs from the car after the crash

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. – Officials say a teen with a text message from his mother on the back of an ambulance after he was injured in a crash, asking her to intervene and a drug-filled suitcase from the trunk of the car.

An arrest report says a Delray Beach paramedic saw the 19-year-old Nicholas Hipp-type the words on Monday and alerted the police. They searched the car and found almost 150 Alprazolam pills — commonly known as Xanax — and about a gram of marijuana. They also found a glass pipe and a scale.

The Palm Beach Post (http://pbpo.st/2hZoDxX reports Hipp told the deputies he bought the drug on the street because he does not agree with the pharmaceutical industry.

He is facing multiple drug possession and was ordered to stay away from nonprescription drugs and alcohol. A lawyer was not listed on jail records.
