Republican Sen. Frank Artiles submitted a letter of resignation to the Senate office of the President on Friday, four days after he used the `n-word’ and the common units in a private club near the state Capitol.
He later apologized in the Senate.
Democrats are calling for his expulsion, and the Republican leadership began an investigation, whether or not Artiles violated Senate rules.
Artiles said, in his dismissal of his actions of writing are now a distraction to his colleagues, the legislative process and the Floridians. His resignation is effective immediately.
