Prosecutors in Florida are seeking the death penalty for an appliance delivery man, is accused of hitting an elderly woman with a hammer before lighting her on fire.
Jorge Luis Dupre Lachazo, 21, has been charged with first-degree murder in the September death of a 75-year-old Evelyn Smith Udell. Palm Beach County court records show that the local State Attorney’s office has filed a notice of intent to seek the death penalty on Monday.

When the police arrived at Udell’s Boca Raton home, they found David Gonzalez, Lachazo of my colleagues. Gonzalez said he and Lachazo has worked for EX Home Delivery, with a sub-contractor at Best Buy, and had delivered a washer and dryer in Udall.
Gonzalez told the police that he went outside to take a phone call, after he and Lachazo had been installed on the devices, while his colleague continued to talk with Udall regarding her new equipment.

Gonzalez said that after he heard a scream from inside the house, he went back into the house, and saw the blood, and Udall was laying on the floor. While Gonzalez was in a call to 911, Lachazo got into the car and drove off.
A responding officer spotted the vehicle and pulled over Lachazo. The researchers said the Lachazo admitted he hit the woman with a hammer made of wood and covered with a chemical that will spontaneously burn.
