Florida police officer shot to death while he arrest warrant

TAMPA, Florida. – A Florida police officer has shot and wounded while serving an arrest warrant in the home of a man faced with charges for making violent threats to his family.

Tampa police chief Brian Dugan said at a press conference that the Officer, Richard Lehr is in stable condition in a hospital where he was after the shooting early Monday.

The police said Lehr and Officer of Leigh Smith had the warrant at an apartment complex as a 35-year-old Walter Richard Jeziorski opened fire.

Dugan pointed to “problems of mental health,” adding that the recording is an example of what officers deal with every day.”

Jeziorski gave himself over to the police shortly after the shooting.

He had a number of earlier arrests on charges of battery and domestic violence. It is not clear whether Jeziorski has a lawyer.
