A man is facing charges in Florida, according to reports, for allegedly picking up a Chihuahua in a steel cage and throw it on a family member during a fight last Tuesday night.

Stephone Johnson, 27, was said to have threatened to harm his cousin during argument in the California. In st. Petersburg, and threw it out of the cage by a 1-year-old Chihuahua mix named Roscoe, in the Tampa Bay Times reported.

Johnson, who is now facing a felony battery, investigators said they admitted to the crime after officers questioned him.

Johnson had at least a dozen convictions for minor crimes, including trespassing, theft, and flight, and that he was a police officer, the news outlet reported.

The defendant was released on Tuesday from the Pinellas County Jail, but he was not to return to the home he shared with the student, The Associated Press reported.

Online records showed the case was assigned to the public defender’s office, but the office is closed on Sunday.
