A Florida grandmother claims her 6-year-old granddaughter was arrested by a resource officer after throwing a temper tantrum at school and she says it happened because the child is suffering from sleep apnea.

Kirkland, told WKMG-TV that while there is a school staff employee and grabbed Kaia’s wrist, the source of her to lash out and kick her legs. The school’s resource officer, Officer Dennis Turner, of Orlando, Police handcuffs, Kaia, and transported her to the Juvenile Assessment Center in Orlando on a battery charge.
Her grandmother said the child was fingerprinted and had her mugshot taken.
The department did not immediately return Fox News’ request for comment. Sgt. David Baker told the news outlet for the arrest of persons under the age of 12, the officers are required to ask for permission from their watch commander, who, he said, is the Curse of not doing so.

Kirkland claims that, when she said that Turner, a 6-year-old has sleep apnoea, in which the family is “working on getting fixed,” and the officer couldn’t understand why that would be an excuse for him.
“And he says, ‘Well, I do have sleep apnea, and I don’t behave like that,'” Kirkland claimed the officer told her.
Kirkland wondered how a child could be arrested for kicking someone.
“How do you do that on a 6-year-old child, and because of them the way a person is? … To be a literal mug shot of a 6-year-old girl,” she said. “No, no, and 6-year-old child should be able to talk to someone and they had the handcuffs on them, and they were riding on the back of a police car, and a juvenile center, finger prints, mug shot.”

Turner also reportedly been arrested, and an 8-year-old in a separate incident on Thursday, according to WKMG. Baker told the news outlet Turner is not permitted to ask questions for the child, and the arrest of one of them. Authorities say an internal investigation is currently under way.
Kirkland says Kaia is supposed to report back to court Dec. 16, and if they don’t, a warrant would be issued for her arrest.
