Florida couple racks up $10G hotel bill, skips without paying, police say

A Florida couple, seemed to control the room and dash” tactic as they racked up a bill of more than $10,000 for bolts without paying, police said.

Ashley and Lee Roe were arrested Saturday after they avoided paying large hotel bills collected from more than three months, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

The Ruffle stayed in the Hampton Inn in Key Largo from Oct. 20 Dec. 11 on five different occasions, each time checking without to pay the bills. The hotel manager told the police the couple in the first instance, not with a credit card, because they check into their room through the hotel’s reward program.

The pair finally a credit card that the hotel staff later discovered was stolen. The manager tried to reach Ashley Roe on social media, but ultimately was blocked, police said.

The authorities caught up with Ashley and Lee Roe and arrested them on a charge of grand theft between $10,000 and $20,000.
