HONOLULU – Despite the increase of potential red flags at the Los Angeles International Airport, that a man, cited by the airport police and travelling without luggage or carry-on baggage was allowed to board a flight to Hawaii.
Hours before the flight, the airport, the police picked him up after he opened a door that led to an airport ramp.
While the air, on a 25-year-old Anil Uskanli was blocked trying to access the front of the plane. According to a criminal complaint, the flight attendants feared that his laptop contained explosives, so jets were encoded to escort the plane to Honolulu.
He is charged with interfering with a flight crew.
A federal magistrate judge in Honolulu on Monday ordered Uskanli undergo a competency evaluation on the AMERICAN mainland.
Federal prosecutor Peter Wolff says he requested the exam, partly by actions described in the complaint.
