The parliament of Flanders has a ban on smoking in a car in the presence of children approved. The fine can be up to 1,000 euro.
The Flemish minister of Environment Joke Schauvliege had the plan already, writes VTM News Thursday. At the federal level it was not, that Schauvliege own work made of the prohibition.
Who in his car smoking in the presence of children under the age of sixteen years may soon be a penalty. The ban also applies to electronic cigarettes.
It is not the first country or area where such prohibition applies. In France, the United Kingdom, Ireland and in several U.s. states, it is forbidden to use in a car to smoke if there are children in the car.
In the Netherlands there is no similar prohibition, although doctors have previously called for such a measure. The ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport shows on RTL News to know that there are also no plans for it. It would be difficult to verify.
