Flanders is the fireworks ban

Flanders is the fireworks ban. Municipalities can for certain times and places, however, make an exception to the prohibition.

The government and a majority of the parliament agree on become on the initiative of minister Ben Weyts of animal Welfare. The measure is intended to incidents with animals. Animal rights organisation Gaia responds satisfied.

In a small forty Flemish municipalities is currently already a vuurwerkverbod. In 103 other municipalities, permission should be sought. In practice, especially around the turn of the year, however, almost anywhere in the firework displays.

When the new prohibition will go is still uncertain but Weyts assumes that this yet this year happens. “In practice, local authorities are reluctant and fireworks restricted to particular sites, and accurate moments,” said the minister.

Measures to offenders to better punish, have yet to be worked out. The ban also applies to firecrackers, sky lanterns and carbidkanonnen.
