(Reuters) – Fitbit, Inc. FIT in.(N) the development of a method for the detection of irregular cardiac rhythm in the period of time, thanks to a collaboration with Bristol-Myers Squibb-Pfizer Alliance, such as the mobile device maker looks to match, a feature that is available on rival Apple Inc’s (AAPL.(O) See.

Atrial fibrillation is a condition that has been associated with an irregular heart rhythm that increases the risk of stroke, and is usually seen in people over the age of 65 years.

About 2.7 million people to 6 million people suffer from the condition in the United States, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
