First vrachttrein from China arrives in London

Wednesday is the first vrachttrein from China arrived on the station, Barking, in east London. After a journey of 12,000 kilometers in eighteen days, the goods in Great Britain. Each ship had almost twice as long.

The train left about two weeks ago from Yiwu, in the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang. Via Kazakhstan, Russia, belarus, Poland, Germany, Belgium and France, the train to the channel Tunnel for the last part of the journey.

London is the fifteenth European place which is now a direct train link with China. The initiative for this was in 2013 taken by the Chinese president Xi Jinping.

China has, for example, all freight trains for transport to Europe on the rails such as that of Chengdu to Rotterdam. Also looks at possibilities for a new spoorwegroute via Iran and Turkey.
