FIOD and TO pick up great witwasmachine for cryptovaluta offline

The Fiscal Intelligence and Investigation (FIOD) has, together with the Public prosecution service (OM) “one of the biggest” witwasmachines for cryptovaluta taken offline.

The FIOD writes on his website that it is going to, one of the three largest online mixers’ for the cryptovaluta bitcoin, bitcoin cash and litecoin. This kind of mixers are online services which the origin or destination of a cryptovaluta can conceal.

In the Netherlands, and Luxembourg were the six servers were dismantled and seized. According to the FIOD is mainly used “for criminal money flows to conceal and launder”.

The service started in may 2018 and has since been a turnover of at least us $ 200 million (179 million euro) have been met.

The research was done in collaboration with the Digital Intrusion Team (DIGIT) of the police. Also Europol and the authorities in Luxembourg, France and Latvia, helped.

The examination of the Financial Advanced Cyber Team (FACT) of the FIOD was in June of 2018 started under the guidance of the Functional public prosecutor.
