Film studios Hollywood may be sued for discrimination against women
The organisation Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), which deals with discrimination in the workplace, may filmstudios in Hollywood to sue because of the exclusion of women.
Currently the organization is in conversation with the film studios to see how the situation can be improved. As promised the Directors Guild of America in december to minorities, including women, more opportunities to offer.
But if the measures prove not to help, EEOC, according to insiders, file a lawsuit against the studios. This is reported in The Guardian.
The EEOC is doing more research into the number of women working in the film industry. Since 2015 is the organization to view whether there are actually cases of legal violations.
According to the investigation, it was last year, only seven percent of the hollywood films directed by women. In addition, this year Ava DuVernay, the only female director who is eligible for an Oscar. They made the documentary 13th, about the American prison life.
