General Manager Martijn Bal of Film Fest Gent will leave after three editions, the renowned film festival. He has decided to return to the television world. “It was a wonderful experience to for the largest film festival of Belgium to be allowed to work,” he says.
In 2015 followed Ball Bart Vandesompele as general director of Film Fest Gent. He went to work with new initiatives such as Film Fest Gent On Tour, Film Fest Gent Talkies and Film Fest Gent On Demand. ‘The social relevance of the festival can not be stressed enough,” says the strikingly director.

Claire Tillekaerts, chairman of the Board of Directors of the festival, looks back satisfied on the cooperation. ‘It was great to work with Martijn and the whole team. They have put together a seamless trail traveled. Film Fest Ghent is in all areas ready to grow to the 45th edition.”
The last edition visited about 100,000 film lovers the festival.
