Feyenoord hopes to be negative first to prevent in the top match against PSV

Feyenoord hopes Sunday in the top match against PSV to put an end to the bad series in uitduels and, hence, a negative first to prevent. The Locals can understand a strong series in its own stadium to extend.

After the winter break went all three matches of Feyenoord on foreign soil lost. PEC Zwolle (3-1), Excelsior (2-1) and FC Groningen (1-0) were too strong for the team of trainer Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

It was never for Feyenoord in the first four uitduels of the calendar year crashed. The last time that four times in a row with a defeat was traveled back to Rotterdam was in the season 2015/2016, when a record was established with seven lost away games in a row.

The bad uitreeks means that Wigan are only six points from the first five speelrondes of 2019 picked up, making it one of the worst performing Premier league clubs of this calendar year. Only FC Utrecht, sc Heerenveen (both four points) and NAC Breda (one) did it to this round.

Especially Robin van Persie will be eager good for the day to come against PSV, as the top scorer of the Team was never a goal against the Locals. His last goal in the Philips Stadium dates back to 2 september 2011, when he, on behalf of Orange four times scored against San Marino (11-0).

PSV very strong in own house

The form of PSV in own house will be Feyenoord’s little hope to offer. The League-leader, that the only defeat this season was precisely against the Rotterdammers suffered (2-1 in The Cockpit), is already 42 thuisduels in a row undefeated.

Also the last defeat in their own house was against Feyenoord, that in the kampioensjaar on september 18, 2016 with 0-1 won in Eindhoven by a hit from Eric Botteghin.

Incidentally, the series of 42 matches without loss on their own field is still a long clubrecord for PSV. Three times was a longer series dropped: 44 matches between 1974 and 1976, 53 speelrondes of 1989-1992 and 93 duels of 1983-1989.

PSV-Feyenoord starts Sunday at 14.30, and is headed by referee Dennis Higler. The Locals defend a lead of four points at number two Ajax, that at 12.15 pm against ADO Den Haag plays.
