Festival commemorates Chris Cornell with herdenkingsoptreden
The music festival Rock on the Range in Columbus in the American state of Ohio, commemorates this weekend, the deceased lead singer Chris Cornell (52) of the rock band Soundgarden.
Soundgarden is featured large on the poster of the festival, but instead of a show of Soundgarden will be a herdenkingsoptreden take place in honor of Cornell, who on Wednesday committed suicide in a hotel in Detroit.
According to TMZ there is not much revealed about the form of the tribute that is scheduled after the set of the American rock band Live.
On the website of the festival states: “We are defeated by the sudden death of Chris Cornell. He was a true hero of the music, the voice of a generation. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and the entire music community. He is now the voice of an angel, who down on us will look while we have him all weekend long will honor.”
Chris Cornell was one of the founders of the grunge, the gitaarrock from Seattle who in the early nineties, popularized by, among others, Nirvana, frontman Kurt Cobain, and Pearl Jam.
