‘Female runners low weight have a higher risk of injuries’

Women who regularly run benefit from their weight good to keep an eye on. Researchers conclude that female runners with a low weight is more risk of injury.
The researchers from Ohio university discovered that women with a Body Mass Index (BMI) lower than 19 are more likely to have a stress fracture, an incomplete fracture. In addition, they would take longer to recover after a stress fracture than people with healthy weight.
Held that a BMI between 18.5 and 25 is healthy. Less is spoken of underweight, higher of being overweight. According to the researchers is the BMI of the average woman is now 26 and so there is a case of overweight. Professional female athletes would have a BMI of 20 to 24 hold.
The researchers examined three years, dozens of female athletes and held their injuries at the hand of a scientifically designed system. The injuries were classified in a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 is the least serious and 5 the worst. The injuries were measured with x-rays, scans of bones, and MRI scans.
“It is essential that women have their BMI to know and be able to work at a healthy level,” said doctor Timothy Millar who led the study. His findings are published in Current Orthopaedic Practice.
