In addition, all of our staff members will be encouraged to frequently wash their hands and cover their coughs,” the spokesperson shared. “Finally, TSA’s standard operating procedures require that front line staff have to wear nitrile gloves when performing the screening tasks, and that adds an extra layer of protection.”
“TSA will continue to follow the guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, concerned with the protection of the workers,” the official added. “We have set up the CDC reports, in TEMPERATURE areas, and the public with information on the corona virus.”
According to Reuters, the CDC has also recommended that the airport’s medical screeners that are in contact with travellers from countries such as China, wearing a surgical mask, gloves, and eye protection. These screeners also needs to stand at least six feet away from the passengers, ” CDC spokesperson Kristen Nordlund said.
