FC Utrecht rent Willock Manchester United, Excelsior strictly keepers

FC Utrecht has set Thursday for the rest of this season secured the services of Matthew Willock. Excelsior drew on the last day of the transfer market keepers Ögmundur Kristinsson and Theo to the Semis.

The 21-year-old Willock comes on a rental basis from Manchester United. The midfielder made last season, although some times part of the clash of the manager José Mourinho, but a debut in the main body of the ‘Red Devils’.

Willock came in the summer of 2012 in the youth of United. He played in the academy of Arsenal and Reading.

“Matty is a versatile midfielder who in recent years played for Manchester United, and a part of his football training enjoyed at Arsenal”, trainer and technical manager Erik ten Hag to know on the website of FC Utrecht.

“In Manchester he managed to date, the step to the first team, but we are convinced after him frequently in the Premier League for beloftenteams to see that he added value can be in Utrecht.”


FC Utrecht seemed to be earlier this week still close to the temporary arrival of Andreas Pereira of United, but the Domstedelingen failed to reach an agreement with the Brazilian-Belgian midfielder, that the entire youth of PSV completed.

Willock is the thirteenth reinforcement for FC Utrecht. Previously explained, the current number five in the Eredivisie already, Chris David, Bilal Ould-Chikh, Simon Makienok, Cyriel Dessers, Sander of the Region, Nick Marsman, Dario Dumic, Urby Emanuelson, Anouar Kali, Lukas Görtler and Jean-Christophe Bahebeck.

Kristinsson signing for one season at Excelsior with an option on a second year. The Icelandic keeper is about Hammarby IF from Sweden.

“When I heard that Excelsior wanted to have, I was immediately interested. I think this is a good step for me. A step forward from Sweden”, says Kirstinsson on the website of Excelsior.

“I also have good heard stories of Icelandic football players in Portugal with coach Mitchell van der Gaag have worked. They were enthusiastic about him, so that gave me confidence that this is the right choice.”

Excelsior explained Thursday the 34-year-old Theo to the Semis of Go Ahead Eagles for one year, as second goalkeeper. He keepte earlier in the 2006/2007 season for the Rotterdam club.

Goalkeeper Alessandro Damen ran Saturday in the match against Heracles (2-2) a severe knee injury.
