‘Father of the zombie film, George A. Romero died (77)

The king of nightmare is no more. The American film director George A. Romero is at the age of 77 died. Romero is considered the first real director of modern horror films. Especially his zombiefilms remain in the memory.

Romero wrote Night of the Living Dead, the iconic zombie film from 1968, which he also directed. It was the beginning of a series of zombiefilms that in the course of the years, would often counterfeited. The cult classic was filmed with a small budget and got a whopping thirty million dollars.

The American director was recently faced with a very aggressive form of lung cancer. He died Sunday, July 16 in his sleep, reports his manager, Chris Roe. “He died with the soundtrack of” The Quiet Man ” in the background, one of his favorite movies. His wife, Suzanne Desrocher Romero, and daughter, Tina Romero were with him while he died, ” says Roe. (Belga/LP)
