Farewell director Lulu Wang is under pressure to make the film, ‘whitewashen’

The Chinese-American filmmaker Lulu Wang was the potential for the producers of the movie, ” The Farewell, under pressure to be more white characters to the cast, and to shoot the film primarily in the English language to take up.

The Farewell is going to be about a struggling artist in New York who goes back to China, to her dying grandmother a visit. The story is partly autobiographical and is based on the ill grandmother on the Cheek.

Wang, who at the tender age of China, emigrated to the United States, was not included in the requirements of the manufacturer. “I said,” I can’t make a movie in which a grandmother speaks English, because I don’t know what it is,” said the director of the film opposite the Variety.

In the film, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, this is mainly Mandarin-speaking. The cast is of Asian descent, and the leading role will be played by Awkwafina, who was previously seen in ” Crazy Rich Asians.

The film is running since last month in U.s. theaters, and is available from november in the uk.
