Faculty discuss of the donor after post with ‘racial overtones’

JACKSON, Miss. – University of Mississippi journalism faculty have met to in the middle of conversations that the university remove a donor’s name from the world of journalism in the school following a social media post criticized for an “unjustified racial undertone.”

Journalism Dean will Norton says the faculty didn’t vote Friday on request of the university to remove Ed Meek’s the name of the school. Norton says that he is trying to achieve, Meek, and that the school leadership may prepare a report or a statement for the faculty.

Mak wrote a Facebook message with pictures of two black women in short dresses, which suggests that they illustrate the problems that cause real estate values to fall. Chancellor Jeffrey Vitter condemned the racial undertone of the message as “very offensive.” It has since been removed.

The school of the student newspaper on Friday editorialized for Ole Miss “cut ties” with Meek.
