Factbox: Do Facebook and the fight against disinformation campaigns by 2019

(Reuters) – Facebook Inc and Twitter Inc said on Monday it had dismantled the state-backed information action originating in the mainland of China, which is trying to undermine the protests in Hong Kong.

Social media companies are under a lot of pressure to stop the illegal and political impact of the campaigns ahead of the presidential election in November, by the year 2020.

Here is a list of the takedowns was announced by Facebook this year:

** Feb. 17 – 364, the Facebook pages and accounts are controlled from Russia and the Baltic states, Central Asia, the Caucasus, and in Central and Eastern European countries.

** Feb. The 31 – 783 pages, groups and accounts that are active in the “co-ordinated, authentic behaviour is associated with Iran.” 234 annual accounts, pages and groups on Facebook and Instagram, which are part of a national network in Indonesia.

** Feb. 13 – 168 Facebook accounts, and 28 pages are eight Instagram accounts to focus on the people in the first place. “Even though the people behind this activity and tried to hide his identity, and our manual review found that a number of these activities has been assigned to the staff of the Moldovan government.”

** March 7 – 137 Facebook, and Instagram accounts, pages and groups that are part of a market-oriented network in the united Kingdom. Of 31, Facebook pages, groups and accounts that are part of a network that operates in Germany.

** 26 march, 2,632 pages, groups and accounts that are active in the coordination of the authentic behavior on Facebook and Instagram. The activities identified have been tied up with Iran, Russia, Macedonia, and Kosovo.

** March 28 – 200 pages, groups, and accounts to be active in the coordination of the authentic behavior on Facebook and Instagram in the country.

** April 1 – 1,126 pages, groups, and accounts associated with individuals and organizations in Pakistan as well as India. “The activities of … active in the coordination of the authentic behavior of two distinct sets of activities in India, as well as a network in the united states of america.”

** 6-may – 97, the Facebook accounts, pages and groups that are involved in the coordinated and authentic behavior as a part of a network that came out of Russia, focusing on Ukraine.

** 16-may – 265 Facebook and Instagram accounts, pages, groups and events, which has its origins in Germany. The network is targeted to people in Nigeria, Senegal, Togo, Angola, Niger, and Tunisia, along with a number of activities in Latin America and South-east Asia.

** 28-may – 97, the Facebook and Instagram accounts, pages and groups that have come out of Iran. The statements purported to have been established in the united states and Europe, and the imitation of legitimate news organizations in the Middle East and so on.

** July 25, the Four separate activities that occur in Thailand, the Russian federation, Ukraine and the united states. “We couldn’t find any link between the campaigns that we have been removed, but all of them are made of networks of accounts to deceive others about who they were and what they were doing.”

** Aug. 1 – 383 of the accounts, pages and groups on Facebook and Instagram, linked in as marketing for companies in the united arab emirates, and Egypt. 397, accounts, pages and groups on Facebook and Instagram linked “to any person in connection with the government of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”

** Aug. 19 – Facebook will delete in a network of 15 pages, groups and accounts in order to stop what it says seems to be in a state of backup of the information behavior originating in the mainland of China, which is trying to undermine the protests in Hong Kong. Twitter suspends more than 200,000 accounts.
