Facebook invests in initiative to hacks during elections to stop
Facebook supports a non-profit organization that political parties, voting systems, and information channels protects against hackers and propaganda.
That has Facebook on Wednesday to let us know during the Black Hat conference in Las Vegas. That event is aimed at security professionals. The initiative is called Defending, Digital Democracy, and is led from Harvard university.
How much money Facebook is investing, is unknown. In the initiative are, among others, former members of Hillary Clinton and Mitt Romney involved. According to them, have a lot of political campagneteams not the appropriate means to themselves against cyber attacks to defend. Since this initiative should change that, though it is not yet known exactly how.
Facebook stumbled last year on a lot of criticism. On the platform was nepnieuws shared and played thus may have a determining role in the outcome of the Us presidential election. Since then, the company of Mark Zuckerberg, the spread of nepnieuws to stop.
Over the past months came Facebook with multiple initiatives to address this goal. In april, the techgigant for example, together with 18 other parties 14 million dollars in an initiative to build confidence in journalism, to increase and nepnieuws.
